Healthy Chocolate Fudge Sauce
What’s thick, rich, and chocolatey, and goes perfectly poured over ice cream**? This Healthy Chocolate Fudge Sauce!
**And maybe possibly even cake, trifles, milkshakes, and oatmeal too… 😉
What makes this Homemade Chocolate Fudge Sauce healthy, you may ask?
This recipe is made with healthier ingredients than typical recipes. Typical hot fudge sauce recipes call for LOTS of white sugar, LOTS of corn syrup, and LOTS of heavy cream. Store-bought fudge sauce contains dangerously unhealthy ingredients like hydrogenated oils (aka trans fats), high-fructose corn syrup, artificial flavors, and preservatives. Yuck.
So I swapped out those nasties and replaced them with better-for-you ingredients. I used evaporated milk to replace the heavy cream, a mixture of dried milk and dutch cocoa to create the richest milk chocolate flavor ever, and combined organic stevia extract with all-natural erythritol to replace the white sugar and corn syrup.
The result?
An ULTRA creamy, healthy Chocolate Fudge Sauce that also happens to be sugar free, low carb, and low fat too!
Healthy Chocolate Fudge Sauce
Ingredients
- one 12oz can Evaporated Fat Free Milk
- 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1 tsp Liquid Stevia Extract
- 90g (¾ cup) Dried Nonfat Milk
- 70g (½ cup) Powdered Erythritol
- 40g (½ cup) Unsweetened Dutch Processed Cocoa Powder
- ½ tsp Xanthan Gum
Instructions
- In a high speed blender (I used my Vitamix), add the evaporated milk, vanilla extract, and stevia extract.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the dried milk powder, erythritol, cocoa powder, and xanthan gum.
- While blending, add in the dry ingredients. Blend until completely smooth. Serve immediately or store in the fridge in a tightly sealed jar or container.
As a comparison, 2 tbs of Hershey’s hot fudge sauce has 120 calories, 4g fat, and a whopping 17g of sugar!
This is Vanilla Ice Cream‘s partner in crime 😈
Enjoy!

Is it a bad idea to just grab straw and sip the chocolate? Or is it only socially acceptable if you pour onto something else? … Asking for a friend! haha in all seriousness, this is a great recipe, thank you!
I wouldn’t blame you for the whole straw thing 😉 because I’d be right there with ya!
This wold be even healthier if raw organic cacao powder were used instead of Dutch processed cocoa, which I use. Thanks foe a wonderful recipe!
How long does is it good for stored in the fridge?
