Healthy BOOZY Limoncello Frozen Yogurt Recipe | Fat Free, Sugar Free

Healthy Boozy Limoncello Frozen Yogurt

This Healthy Boozy Limoncello Frozen Yogurt is creamy, tart, refreshing, and not overly sweet.  It’s the perfect dessert for a delicious and guilt-free nightcap!  Just a taste of this fro yo and you’ll be in awe knowing that it’s refined sugar free, fat free, and high protein, because it sure doesn’t taste like it!

When I was making this recipe, I had no intentions of making it fat-free.  I had originally set out to use a base made of Greek yogurt and half and half, but I only had a cup of half and half left in the container which smelled a little “off” when I opened it.  I then thought about using coconut milk, but of course, I didn’t have any cans left in my pantry (darn me for using the last can in my Healthy Cookies ‘n’ Cream Ice Cream!!).  So, I opted for a can of evaporated milk.  When I churned the fro yo and stuck it in the freezer to firm up, I started to calculate the nutrition facts for the recipe (nutrition label below).  I triple checked it because I was like, “WHERE’S THE FAT???”  I freaked out, expecting the fro yo sitting in the freezer to crystallize and not end up as creamy as my other ice cream recipes.

But I was wrong.  This Healthy Boozy Limoncello Frozen Yogurt is suuuper creamy.  The lemon flavor from the Homemade Limoncello and fresh lemon zest add a tart and zippy freshness, and I love how it’s not overly sweet.

We like to enjoy this Healthy Boozy Limoncello Frozen Yogurt on its own or in waffle cones, but when we’re feeling indulgent, we spruce it up with toppings, mix-ins, and even pour-overs for an extra boozy hit.

Feel free to serve a BIG scoop (or three) along with natural whipped cream, Healthy Lemon Shortbread Cookies crumbled on top or on the side, a few Homemade Maraschino Cherries, and/or a shot of Limoncello.

One bite of all that will BLOW. YOUR. MIND.

None of it tastes healthy or all natural in the slightest!

Ingredients

Instructions

  • Freeze your ice cream maker bowl for 24+ hours (I used my KitchenAid ice cream maker attachment).
  • In a large blender, add the yogurt, evaporated milk, limoncello, lemon zest, stevia extract, vanilla extract, and butter flavor.  Blend until smooth.
  • In a tiny bowl, mix together the xanthan gum, turmeric, and salt.  While blending, slowly add in the dry ingredients.  Puree until completely smooth.
  • Churn the fro yo according to your ice cream makers' instructions.  Scoop the fro yo into a freezer-proof container, cover, and freeze until it's the texture you prefer (usually ~3-4 hours).  Scoop, serve, and enjoy!  If frozen solid, the best method to thaw is to place the fro yo in the fridge for a few hours (this way, the entire ice cream is scoopable, unlike thawing ice cream on the counter, where only the edges will be scoopable).

  5. I hope you will read about the effects of Stevia and other sugar substitutes on our bodies. Sugar in small amounts is a better choice. I hope you will adjust your recipes and educate your followers about this also. You have wonderful recipes and I know you will do will with your blogging efforts. Good luck and blessings to you.
I would also like to suggest that you include at the bottom of a recipe the other recipes included in your list of ingredients instead of links. Too much clicking and printing. ‘Twould be nice to have it all on one page. Thanks and keep up the good work!!!

  6. Can you substitute anything for the limoncello? Like lemon juice.
