Healthy Protein Krispy Treats
These super simple Healthy Protein Krispy Treats require only 4 ingredients to make! They’re sweet, chewy, crunchy, and delicious, it’s hard to believe they’re all natural, low fat, refined sugar free, and gluten free!
These put the storebought packaged krispy treats to SHAME.
You don’t need the fructose and corn syrup, preservatives, and artificial food dyes to make something taste good. All you need are REAL ingredients that our body actually CRAVES.
I always have treats on hand on my counter, in the fridge, or in my freezer for when my sweet tooth strikes (basically three times a day every damn day).
Since Krispy Treats are generally pure carbs — nothing wrong there, we are all carb lovers at heart — I wanted to make it more nutritionally balanced with a balance of protein, carbs, and healthy fats. I nailed it on the head with this recipe!
Healthy Protein Krispy Treats
Ingredients
- 28g (2 tbs) Coconut Oil
- 4 packed cups (185g) Homemade Marshmallows
- 32g (⅓ cup) Unflavored Whey Protein Powder
- 120g (4 cups) Crispy Brown Rice Cereal
Instructions
- Line an 8x8" brownie pan with parchment paper both ways.
- In a saucepan, add the coconut oil and place over medium-low heat. When the coconut oil is completely melted, add the marshmallows. Gently stir with a silicone spatula until almost all of the marshmallows have fully melted. Remove from the heat
- Stir in the protein powder. It will thicken.
- Working quickly now, dump in the rice cereal and gently fold together. When the mixture is fully incorporated, scoop it into the prepared pan. Flatten the mixture by laying a sheet of parchment on top of the mixture and pressing down firmly.
- Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight. Slice and enjoy!
Recipe Notes
Yup! Just 150 calories and 3.5g fat per krispy treat, plus 5g of protein. BOOM. I’ll take two please.
Storebought krispies treats measure 2½” x 1½” and my Healthy Protein Krispy Treats measure 2½” x 2½”. If you want these to be the same size as the storebought kind, slice them into 15 (3×5) instead of 9 (3×3). They will be AMAZING either way!
Just LOOK at that texture. It’s crunchy yet chewy, it’s sweet but not tooth-achingly sweet, and it tastes totally unhealthy when really it’s all natural, gluten free, and made without the corn syrup and preservatives.
Hope you enjoy!

These do look pretty amazing. I have to say I have never liked rice krispi treats, I don’t know if its the marshmallow or more of it I’m gonna have a dessert it has to be chocolate. These look great , however and I like that they are marshmallow free.
These look great! I love the healthy substitute to include protein.
Will these work without the whey protein?
I have a classic recipe for Krispy Treats without the protein powder here: https://dessertswithbenefits.com/healthy-krispy-treats/ 🙂

Indtead of protein powder can I use Shakeology powder?
I’ve never used Shakeology before so I can’t be sure. It’s worth a shot though! Crossing my fingers it works for ya! 🙂
