Healthy Homemade Pecan Butter
A giant bag of pecans + 10 minutes = super easy, inexpensive, and DELICIOUS healthy homemade Pecan Butter.
WINNING!
One 8oz (1 cup) jar of Artisana Pecan Butter costs $13.48, while three 12oz bags of Pecans costs $23.58 (these 12oz bags have the capability of making you ~4.5 cups of nut butter)… that means this homemade nut butter will only cost you $5.24 per cup. Let’s do that math:

Healthy Homemade Pecan Butter
Ingredients
- 2 cups Pecans (unsalted; you can use raw or roasted)
Instructions
- In a food processor, add the walnuts. Pulse until crumbly and flour-like, then grind constantly until smooth and buttery, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed (depending on the processor you use, this could take anywhere from 5-10 minutes). Feel free to add salt to taste or stevia to sweeten.
- Pour the mixture into jars, seal tightly, and refrigerate to store.
So how can you use this homemade pecan butter?
- Spread it on warm toast with a drizzle of pure maple syrup and a dash of cinnamon
- Jazz up your morning oatmeal with a spoonful as topping
- Top a bowl of Butterscotch Pumpkin Overnight Dessert Oats with it
- Pecan Butter Cookies (use this nut butter instead of PB and add 1 tbs oil if needed)
- Spread it on some tasty Raisin Bran Muffins
- Make “Reese’s” Pecan Butter Cups!
- Eat off your finger a spoon
- Buttery Toffee Blondie Batter (use this nut butter instead of almond butter)
- In any recipe that uses a nut butter

Hmmm… I love pecan butter. It may actually be my favorite of all the nut butters! It’s surprisingly sweet and if you can get it super creamy the texture is just amazing— So drippy! Looks great 🙂
I’m obsessed with homemade nut butters. I think pecan might be next!!
I’m still experimenting with different kinds of nut butters, but so far, I love them! You’re pictures are beautiful- you make it look so delicious, I don’t know if it would last to make your suggested recipes! 🙂 Excited to see the recipe for Friday!
Looks delish.
I’ll have to remember it for December, it would make such a nice Christmas gift in a jar with a red and green ribbon.
Found this on Foodgawker! Love that you mention the price difference between making it yourself and buying it in-store, really creative.
i am ALL about saving money!! that’s awesome, i’m going to start making this.
Aw, I wanted to make pecan butter for quite a while now… looks really good!
I think I’m going to try this for Christmas gifts this year, I had no idea it was this easy!
hi i am using the 2 cups crusinart food processor, but it seems doesnt work so well whening making nut butter, wonder how long u press and hold the grind butter? i usually hold it for 1 min then scrape down and do it until it’s done but i smell something like plastic, i thought if it would be the engine or the blade of the machine is not strong enough to make nut butter, so do u have such an experience before?
i fail making it for 3 times need some of your advices, thx.
A 2-cup food processor is definitely too small for nut butters. When processing nuts, the bigger the processor the better. The smallest size I would use is the 4-cup food processor (that’s the one I used). Larger processors don’t need as much scraping down the sides and are much easier to use. Sorry for the trouble, you can use the pecan “paste” you made in cookies or savory dishes if you like, so you don’t have to waste anything, or you can blend it with some maple syrup, coconut oil and/or cinnamon to help the blending process and add some flavor 🙂

I have recently made pecan butter, and love it. Hoping to make it for family and friends, but need to know how long it wil last in fridge, and still be safe.
As long as it’s stored in a tightly sealed container in the fridge, this pecan butter should last for a couple of months 🙂
